About Ida and White Lynx
I learnt to see the light differently.
I’m Ida Larsson, founder of White Lynx Photography, marketing photographer, and visual brand strategist.
However, my obsession with light started long before White Lynx existed.
Growing up in the dark North, I struggled with depression, and there were periods of my life where things became very dark.
In photography class, my teacher often spoke about "seeing the light", and I would like to think that stuck with me on a deeper level. And somewhere along the way, learning to see light through a camera helped me start seeing it elsewhere, too.
Photography gave me something to focus on. Something to understand. Something I could control, shape, and create with.
Eventually, I decided I didn't just want to photograph light.
I wanted to master it
So I studied light.
I went on to study commercial photography at Medieskolerne in Denmark, and spent five years specialising in commercial lighting.
I learnt how the angle, intensity, contrast, colour and character of light change what we notice and, more importantly,
how we perceive what we're looking at.
That became the foundation of White Lynx Photography.
Today, I use light very differently from the way I first discovered it.
Now it's a communication tool.
I use it to direct attention. Create trust. Show texture. Build atmosphere. Make a product feel premium. Make a person feel approachable or authoritative.
Because your audience doesn't simply see an image.
They form an opinion from it.
A Different Light.
Designed to Communicate.
That's what White Lynx is really about.
I don't believe good commercial photography is simply about making something look nice.
It should communicate.
Before I pick up the camera, I want to understand what you're actually selling, who needs to see it, and what they need to think or feel when they do.
Then we design the image around that.
Designed, not improvised.
The lighting, composition, environment and expression all have a job to do.
Because your images aren't decoration.
They're positioning.
From Scandinavia
to Auckland
I grew up on Sweden's west coast and eventually made New Zealand home.
That Scandinavian background still influences my work: clean design, simplicity, attention to detail and very little interest in adding things simply because they're pretty.
If it doesn't contribute to the image, it probably doesn't need to be there.
Over the years, I've photographed everything from people and products to national brands, campaigns, events and businesses across Auckland and New Zealand.
My work has also received international recognition through the International Photography Awards.
But awards aren't what I'm trying to create when I photograph your business.
I'm trying to create something much more useful:
An image that makes the right person stop, look, and understand why they should choose you.

Why White Lynx?
Lynx means light in Greek.
The lynx's eyes reflect light, allowing it to see where others can't.
That felt fitting.
Because after all these years, I'm still doing what that teacher encouraged me to do.
Looking for the light.
Only now, I use it to help other businesses be seen.
